To all Warley Wasps Members and their families - May I first say a big thank you for your continued support during 2011, it has been greatly appreciated and has helped to ensure the survival of our club. The committee and non-committee members have worked tirelessly to provide meetings, which have been expertly planned and executed. It has been an absolute pleasure to hear all of the positive comments from other club members regarding the Wasps. As a team we always endeavour to put on quality meetings for the benefit of all our riders, both young and old. It is through the hard work, determination and enthusiasm of the Warley Wasps members that this is possible. Andy Manley Chairman

Chairman's Notes

Hello and welcome to the Warley Wasps website. My name is Andy Manley and I am the Chairman for the club this year (2011)

I have been in this sport for over 30 years!! I first joined the Warley Wasps club way back in 1980 as a 14yr old riding in the 100cc class progressing onto riding in the top schoolboy nationals until the end of 1983. After that I moved to the AMCA where I completed 18 years in the AMCA Championship (125,250 and 500cc) and also 6 years in the IMBA in the open category. I have also participated in various French International night meetings (many happy nights have been spent at midnight on the start line for the grand final!)

It must be in the blood, as my son has adopted my passion for this sport and has just moved into the 65 class after completing 1 year in the auto class.

I thoroughly enjoy every aspect of this sport (barring the parental moaning!!) and I am very proud to be in this privileged position and hope that myself, the committee, and the volunteers can continue to run this club as successfully as the previous chairman and committee did.

We are currently trying out one or two new ideas, unfortunately we have had to increase riding fees (they are now in line with other clubs) there will also now be no marshalling for auto parents, although we would be very grateful if these parents could help collect in the track at the end of the day. All help is always appreciated! Please note though that our Committee members are volunteers and are trying to do their jobs and make sure the day runs smoothly – any verbal or physical abuse will not be tolerated. Any matters will be dealt with by the club or BSMA.

We have also been able to book some very exciting new tracks, as well as our current tracks, which will definitely produce some excellent racing for all riders this year. IAs the numbers continue to grow within the club, it was been suggested by the Clerk of the Course that meetings could be 'no marshal' meetings. This has become a permanent fixture in our club.

I am looking forward to this year and hope that it will be a very successful one for the Warley Wasps Club. If you have any questions or new ideas of ways to take this club forward then do not hesitate to speak to me at the meetings.

Best Wishes Andy and the Committee members.

Rules

MOTOR SPORT IS DANGEROUS AND PERSONS ATTENDING THE MEETING DO SO ENTIRELY AT THEIR OWN RISK

It is a condition of admittance that all persons having any connection with the promotion and/or conduct of the meeting, including the landowners, and drivers of the vehicles are absolved from all liability arising out of accidents however caused in damage and/or personal injury to spectators or ticket holders.

THERE WILL BE NO RIDING IN THE PADDOCK

Bikes to be pushed at walking pace to the start/finish area. Any rider who is seen to be riding bikes at speed in these areas will risk loss of points, and if seen on a second occasion, sent home. Your attention is drawn to the serious consequences which could arise from an accident caused by the unauthorised riding in the paddock.

DOGS

Under no circumstances are dogs allowed within the precinct of the course. This ruling will be strictly enforced. Dogs are to be kept on a lead at ALL times. Please clean up after your dog.

CROSSING THE COURSE

Under no circumstances should you cross the course whilst racing is in progress. At such times when it is permissible to cross the course, a marshal will indicate where it is safe to do so.

NUMBERS / COLOURS

All riders must be on their bikes, have the correct riding number and coloured numbers/background for their riding group. Numbers must be clear and visible

PROTESTS

ALL PROTESTS MUST BE IN WRITING with a fee of £25.

MARSHALLING

All parents/guardians may be called upon to carry out marshalling duties for part of the meeting. Failure to do so when asked will render your rider subject to exclusion.

Marshals are the most important people on the track. They are there for the safety of all riders.

It is not acceptable for marshals to disappear when they have had enough.

All riders are asked to provide a responsible adult (over 16 years old) who can carry out the marshalling duties. If anyone requires advice on how to marshal properly, See the marshall co-ordinator at booking in. I don't see how anyone can marshal properly with their face wedged to a mobile phone text messaging.

Morning marshals start before first practice and are on duty until they are replaced.

Afternoon marshals should be in place during the second adult race and are on duty until the last race is finished.

If you do need to be replaced, contact the clerk of the course who will find a replacement.
